Dr Robert King is a lecturer in Statistics in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He is currently a visiting professor at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, BC. After a B.Science (honours) at the University of Queensland (1990), service with the Australian Bureau of Statistics and a PhD at Queensland University of Technology (1999), he lectured at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, and then the University of Newcastle.
Dr King’s research interests include estimation and modelling with the generalised lambda and g-and-h distributions, goodness-of-fit for ecological models, spatial statistics and Bayesian belief-updating. He is one of the faculty advisors to the University of Newcastle’s robot soccer team, the NUBots, who placed 2nd in the 4-legged league at the 2005 world robocup. (http://robots.newcastle.edu.au/)
